Bike Week 2014 round-up

Every week is bike week at BikeRight! but we do make an extra effort to go further and faster during June.

Here's some photos and snippets from events that we took part in during Bike Week 2014.

Liverpool to Chester bike ride

One of the main annual charity rides in the calendar, a great all-ability event which culminates in a ride through the closed off Mersey tunnel. Well done to our Choose Freedom team and their pals from Liverpool.

Liverpool and Birmingham Women's Hospitals ride

You bus two groups of riders from each hospital to the other on Friday then make them ride home over the weekend. An ingenious concept for a ride arranged by the two hospitals and supported through volunteers from BikeRight! staff and the loan of our vehicles.

What's more we also:

We ran our first family bike ride in Oldham's Chadderton Park– the rides are led by BikeRight! instructors and are bi-weekly on Sundays.

We delivered basic and intermediate courses for Transport for Greater Manchester training local people for free to maintain their own bikes.

We delivered adult cycle training for over 20 people in Manchester and Warrington including training people to learn to ride.

We supported LGBT North West to participate in the Manchester Day Parade by lending them bikes and helmets.

We delivered a course with Fleet Source for 20 professional drivers to be more aware of cyclists and the national standard of cycling.  Giving them a new perspective from the saddle!

On Bikeability we trained 998 children across all our areas

We booked in a further 1,200 children for future courses

We loaned 99 bikes and 276 helmets to enable people to learn valuable bike skills

Trained 87 cyclists and delivered maintenance session to 36 trainees in the West Midlands

Ran a Led Ride in Birmingham with 16 participants
