Fix and Ride is a 2.5-hour basic maintenance and cycle skills session which is for those who want to learn how to look after their bike and carry out simple maintenance as well as pick up some tips and advice on riding technique.
Participants receive a set of tyre levers with a puncture repair kit as part of the fee.
Learn about your bike
Participants will learn:
- About the parts of your bike and what they do
- What to check before you ride
- How to adjust the saddle, handlebars, brakes and gears
- How to mend punctures and replace inner tubes
- About how brakes and gears work
Led by a bike maintenance expert, Fix and Ride will be in groups of up to 8 in a friendly, supportive atmosphere. It's a hands-on session to give confidence and skills necessary to keep bikes on the move.
Take a ride
We encourage you to cycle to the venue or at least bring it with you, so that you can learn about your own cycle and any quirks it my have. Your mechanic is also a qualified cycle instructor and will be able to offer any tips on riding safely on the roads and signpost you to any further training that may interest you.
Our courses are designed to give you as much practical experience as we can, so please come dressed appropriately for working on a bike. Gloves will be available for participants.
