BikeRight! MD Liz Clarke was interviewed by BBC Radio Manchester last week and talked about the Cycling England Bikeability instructor recruitment drive.
“There is a real shortage of good cycling instructors and it’s great that Cycling England supported by Olympic Champion Denise Lewis are launching this campaign to recruit Mums as Bikeability instructors” commented Liz.
“It would be good to address the gender balance of instructors as our own team are mainly men who work school hours on term-time contracts and have the lions share of their families childcare responsibilities. I guess this reflects how times have changed and the fact that a third more men are regular cyclists than women”, Liz added.
If you are interested in becoming a cycling instructor then BikeRight! run accredited training programmes all over the UK and deliver cycle training to around 12,000 people every year. More information can be found at www.bikeright.co.uk or on the Bikeability web site www.bikeability.org.uk
