Five Miles to Fabulous – Women’s ride, 8th June 2008

Five Miles To Fabulous was the tag line for the CTC’s women’s weekend of cycling events held over 7th-8th June. The event was to be a five miles cycle ride to encourage women to return to cycling, to make it part of their health regime and to get them to consider cycling as a viable form of transport. Of course also meeting new people and having fun too!

BikeRight organised a ride on Sunday 8th June. The ride started from Chorlton Water Park in south Manchester. From there we followed the river Mersey, to Sale Water Park, using the trans Pennine trail, route 62. Then, after a refreshment break, we cycled around the lake in Sale and then retraced our route back to Chorlton.

The ride attracted 16 women from various areas, age groups and skill levels. It was an amazingly hot day, obviously women cyclists are smiled upon! It was a really enjoyable ride, very relaxed and friendly. Given the success everyone was keen to make it more of a regular event. Thus, the BikeRight monthly women’s rides have been born! So, ladies, keep checking the BikeRight website for details of the next event.
