BikeRight! is delighted to announce that its MD, Liz Clarke, is a finalist in this year’s E3 Business Awards, Outstanding Women in Business category. Celebrating Enterprise, Education and Employment, this is a justly deserved recognition for the woman that built BikeRight! without financial backing from concept to £2.4m turnover in 10 years.
Liz has developed an ailing cycle training sector in to a thriving industry and her 87-strong workforce reflect her passion to inspire everyday cycling among children and adults while consistently delivering excellent service. She has won multiple local authority contracts and become the largest deliverer of Bikeability nationally.
When Liz entered the cycling world she helped professionalise cycle training and overcame prejudice. She worked hard to persuade councils to link cycling with health, employment and environmental strategies, common policy in 2014 but much rarer 10 years ago.
Having won the Northwest Women in Business Awards in 2009 BikeRight! gained more exposure and Liz continued to champion women in cycling, with women representing 70% of BikeRight!’s adult trainees.
In the last 5 years, Liz has transformed BikeRight! into a profitable national company operating in 5 locations, and is poised to start exporting licensed products. An order for Portugal is well-advanced,regular repeat orders for Eurocamp (France and Spain) and the Irish government, and BikeRight! Instructor Training courses have attracted attendees from Dubai, Hong Kong, Borneo and several EU countries.
Responding to her nomination, Liz Clarke said "I am delighted to be a finalist in these prestigious awards and look forward to an evening of celebrations with the other companies who bring employment, skills and training to the North West”.
Speaking on behalf of 1 Events Media, which has developed and organised the awards, Managing Director Mubarak Chati said: "Last year marked the launch of the E3 Awards and we were very impressed then by the number and caliber of the nominees, but this year, we've seen even more. Perhaps it's testament to a recovering economy or just to the relentless 'can do' spirit that characterises the North West, but whatever the reason, the quality of entrants has been superb.
"We've had hundreds of nominations, and they've come from right across the region: Manchester to Merseyside, Cumbria to Cheshire. It's astonishing to witness the effort and ingenuity of so many individuals and organisations because so much commendable work has clearly been done. In compiling the shortlist, the Nominations Panel certainly had an unenviable task and for Liz Clarke to have secured a place in the final is an achievement of which she should be very proud."
The E3 Business Awards take place on Thursday 18th September 2014. Good luck to all nominees.
