BikeRight! is proud to continue its support for the Debdale cycle for health project, one of several in the Manchester area and a great part of the cycling revolution taking place in the city.
The project helps to give people a better, healthier way of life and a sense of well-being through organised regular cycle rides starting and ending in Debdale park in East Manchester. The project is run for all in the community to create a social group where people can get together for a few hours.
Peter Rees, project coordinator comments: “People who attend are generally older with either health issues such as diabetes or heart conditions or those who just want social connection for a couple of hours.
“I joined by chance one day whilst out cycling. I am now a ride leader and thanks to BikeRight! I have gained a City and Guilds qualification in cycle maintenance so I can keep the cycles we have serviceable.”
Mary Clark, BikeRight! mechanic trainer added: “We have provided bikes, accessories and tools to support the project as well as training several individuals. It’s a great project run by really enthusiastic individuals striving to change people’s lives for the better.”
The group is a fully volunteer run organisation. The bikes they have are available to hire for only a £1 donation towards insurance and maintenance costs.
