Ride Leader

The aim of this course is to equip participants with the skills to lead and supervise cycle rides, on and off road, and to encourage cycling as a sustainable healthy activity in their local communities.

The course is a 1 day course for groups and on completion all of the participants will be able to organise and lead cycle rides.

NOTE: you do not have to be an NS Instructor to attend this course. Though being a competent cyclist used to riding in a group is essential.

Expert Ride Leader

The aim of this course is to equip participants with the skills to lead and supervise cycle rides, on and off road, and to encourage cycling as a sustainable healthy activity in their local communities.

The course is a 2 day course to allow for a greater emphasis on the planning and delivery of a practical ride.  
NOTE: you do not have to be an NS Instructor to attend this course. Though being a competent cyclist used to riding in a group is essential.

  • Route planning* Risk Assessments
  • Writing a Risk Assessment for a cycle route
  • Bicycle check and fitting helmets
  • Trailside fixes and assessments
  • Pre ride information for clients
  • Preparing yourself for the ride (including moving groups)
  • Leader positioning during ride
  • Riding techniques
  • Basic bike maintenance
  • Dealing with accidents/incidents
  • More comprehensive leadership experience and feedback
  • Scenario based incidents and how to deal with them

Two day course £120+ VAT per person


Snaking Training

Not to be confused with the Ride Leader Course.

A heavily practical course where trainees will learn to snake a group of trainees in a variety of situations starting in basic level 2 areas before progressing to Traffic light controlled junctions and Snaking in more problematical areas.

NOTE: you do not have to be an NS Instructor to attend this course. Though being a competent cyclist used to riding in a group is essential.
