BikeRight!s involvement in Bikeability doesn’t stop at the point of delivery. We are also a principal provider of consultancy and training services to the country’s local authorities. We help partners to set up their own schemes, utilising our experience and expertise to implement robust procedures and quality control measures to ensure a successful outcome.

BikeRight! can assist prospective schemes with their paper based application to the Department for Transport.
Administration system set up
Implementation of a robust and efficient administration systems which can include software and training for back-office systems such as course management platforms.
Standard operating procedures and policies
Advice on internal procedures and policies specifically for instructors and support for schemes that wish to prepare written guidance in support of these.
Staff recruitment and training
Support to organisations during the recruitment process by helping create robust person specifications, highlighting what isrequired in DBS, safeguarding and personal attributes. We also offer detailed feedback on candidates who attend the four-day National Standards Instructor course. Customers tell us that they have higher retention rates of instructors when we have been a part of their recruitment process.
Instructor training and professional development
BikeRight! has a suite of Department for Transport accredited National Standard Cycle Training courses to suit every need including Continuing Professional Development and Bikeability Plus training modules (Instructors should undertake at least 3 hours of annual CPD). We also offer modular training in aspects of cycling not covered by the National Standard such as Learn to Ride and Group Leadership.
BikeRight! also offers help, support and training to schemes or instructors delivering the practical element of the Safe Urban Driving (SUD) course.
Internal Quality Assurance
BikeRight! can assist schemes in establishing written policies and procedures for Internal Quality Assurance. We also offer expertise in creating written feedback templates, supported by a relevant scoring system that helps schemes ‘measure’ their quality of delivery.
BikeRight! can train internal quality assurers or we can undertake the IQA itself, providing written feedback on both individuals and schemes.
Reporting and evaluation
Development and implementation of reporting and evaluation methodologies that align to strategic local and national requirements such as physical activity and health measures.
National Standards Instructor verification and Instructor Training Organisation services
BikeRight! can offer an NSI number/status verification service to Instructors who were originally trained by us. Members of our ITO also receive cycle training related emails which contain special offers and discount codes for members only.Practical Training support
Our team of Instructor Trainers are always on hand to offer advice on cycle training related matters either by email or by telephone and are happy to answer any National Standard related queries.
Support material development
A major part of standardising training is agreeing a delivery model and then issuing a delivery manual and other support material. BikeRight! can produce delivery manuals in line with The National Standard, teaching aids for instructors and guidance on the content of wet weather programmes, Bikeability promotional items and on-line content.
We are a founder member of The Association of Bikeability Schemes (TABS), the Cycle Training Standards Board (CTSB) and are an Instructor Training Organisation approved by the Department for Transport.
