Dedicated cycle training courses for UK police forces
The use of bicycles makes policing both visible and cost effective. Bikes provide an ideal vehicle for use in city centre areas where speed of response and ease of access are a key to successful policing. In rural areas the use of mountain bikes can facilitate access to areas that cars can not reach.
In response to the increased number of officers on pedal cycles and mindful of their welfare and duty of care obligations, BikeRight! has developed a specific programme of courses for police trainers and officers patrolling on bicycles - courses that adhere to the latest guidance on police cycle training from the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO).
Working closely with a number of police forces across the country we have incorporated national police procedures within the accredited National Standards for cycle training. We have also produced a pedal cycle assessor manual. This manual can be adapted for use within any police force in the UK.
