PrePedal – early year’s freedom
PrePedal is a new and exciting way of teaching early years children (pre-school and key stage 1) how to ride a bicycle. And because BikeRight! is an accredited instructor training provider we can provide everything that a school or nursery would need to teach young children this valuable life skill.
Because PrePedal uses specialist balance bikes that don’t have pedals it means that children can concentrate on balance and gross motor control needed to perfect riding without having to grasp propulsion, foot and leg positioning as well. Gone are the dreaded stabilisers, as the use of balance bikes removes the need for most children to use them when they progress on to conventional bikes with pedals.

Balance bikes are used all over Europe, especially in cycling-mad Holland where it is the norm to cycle everyday and not unusual for children to be riding without stabilisers from as young as 3 yeas old.
Our training courses have been developed by qualified National Standards/Bikeability Cycle Instructors and our modules come complete with:
- Training
- Balance bikes
- Children’s helmets
- Optional skills equipment
- Back-up of our instructor training team
The PrePedal courses are designed to build confidence, improve balance, provide a sense of independence and lead naturally on to Bikeability level 1 if this is given during key stage 2 schooling.
PrePedal Trainer modules
In this 'train the trainer' module you will be given the knowledge and equipment to deliver your own PrePedal courses. The PrePedal Trainer module is designed for teachers, classroom assistants, nursery workers, cycle instructors and others who want to train young cyclists themselves. The module includes:
- Half day training for up to 6 people
- Four balance bikes
- Four children’s ANSI approved cycle helmets
- Optional skills equipment such as cones
- Help-line direct to our team of qualified instructor trainers
