New cycling developments in Manchester
The Friends of the Fallowfield Loop produce a monthly newsletter to provide up to date info on cycling in Manchester. Here are a few developments taken from the newsletter:
New off-road routes to school in South Manchester
Manchester City Council to create a new off-road cycleway in 2007-8 which will link the primary and high schools of Burnage and Levenshulme. This cycleway will be incorporated into the Fallowfield Loop, which is recognition of how important the Loop could become for the promotion of safe journeying to school.
Outdoor BMX track in Platt Fields
Financial and planning approval has just been given for the creation of a track for BMX and mountain bikes in Platt Fields Park, work on which will be completed by the end of this summer. It is hoped that coaching will be available for all ages and all levels of user. The organizers are appealing for volunteers to help with coaching, running events and supporting the club.
