Mountain biking first for Pride Games!

John McGillivray and Sue Ritchie were the delighted winners of Gold medals in the Pride Games mountain bike race - organised by BikeRight!’s MTB leaders, Al Bowker and Patrick Cornwell - at Clayton Vale on September 13.   Mountain biking made its debut as a competitive event in the Pride Games which is run by Pride Sports and held annually in Manchester.

Al and Patrick designed the course used for the race in Clayton Vale - in conjunction with the Groundwork Trust and the City Council’s Park Rangers – and used it as the basis of a mountain biking skills training session on the morning of the race.

Several of the participants in the skills training then went on to take part in the 4 lap 5 mile race, which turned out to be very competitive – and eventful - throughout the field.

After the success of the day – and of the race course – Al and Patrick are hoping to work with Groundwork and MCC to develop Clayton Vale into a major inner-city venue for mountain bike skills training – and racing.  Watch this space – and that Vale!
