PrePedal - getting the balance right!

Leading cycling organisation BikeRight! has launched an exciting new ‘learn to ride’ cycle training package called PrePedal. Aimed at nursery operators, pre-schools and schools with key stage 1 pupils, PrePedal consists of specially developed training modules and equipment to teach children to learn to ride bicycles in safe and structured way.

The PrePedal Trainer Module provides the knowledge and equipment to deliver PrePedal sessions to children as young as three. The module includes half day training for up to two people, four balance bikes in a choice of colours, four children’s cycle helmets, skills equipment such as cones for use in class or playground and a help-line direct to BikeRight!s team of qualified instructor trainers.

The instructor courses are held at the BikeRight! training centre in Manchester and start from as little as £750 for two people.

In the North West Bikeright! can deliver PrePedal sessions directly using their own team of instructors and equipment. These sessions start at around £400 per session for up to 24 children during a school day - that's just £16 per head.

Nick Higgins, Instructor Trainer commented: “These sessions are great fun, the children love the challenge of learning to ride and the use of the balance bikes takes away the need for those dreaded stabilisers. Learning to ride is a fantastic life-skill and PrePedal offers a real added-value opportunity for pre-school managers, it’s also a way of reinforcing the importance of healthy lifestyles.”
