BikeRight! awarded DfT recognition as Instructor Training Organisation (ITO)

As part of the Department for Transport's development of cycle training and instructor provision for Bikeability schemes BikeRight! have been given official government recognition as an ITO.

All instructors who deliver Bikeability will need to register with an ITO, and all scheme operators will need to ensure that the instructors they use belong to an Instructor Training Organisation. Registering with an ITO means making a commitment to annual CPD training as this is a prerequisite of the ITO scheme to help maintain quality.

Anyone wishing to become a National Standards Instructor Trainer, Instructor or Assistant Instructor will have to attend a training course run by a recognised ITO such as BikeRight!

Instructor Training

We have been training National Standards Instructors as an ITP (the old system for accreditation by Cycling England) for many years. Over 1200 people have attended BikeRight! courses, we have 3 teams of highly qualified Instructor Trainers who run courses every month from our training centre in Manchester as well as bespoke courses at many locations throughout the country.

Register now

Registration is FREE to our ITO membership scheme, we are finalising member benefits and will be contacting all of the instructors that we have trained in due course.

We also welcome contact from anyone out there who is currently, or intends to deliver Bikeability regardless of who conducted their original instructor training.
