Case study - Brooklands Cricket Club
Situation
Brooklands Cricket Club needed an unusual pre-season activity for members of their junior cricket team which would challenge them, give them new skills, help with team-building and be fun. Their coach, approached the BikeRight! mountain bike team for help.
Our solution
We designed a full day’s mountain bike ride, with skills training and challenges built in. We identified a scenic and "undulating" route looping through Philips Park and along the Irwell Valley Trail into Bury (amply proving that you don’t need mountains to go mountain biking!).
The day was designed to deliver skills, challenges, team-building and fun in equal parts. From the moment the group left the tarmac and set off along the trail they began learning riding positions, weight-shift, advanced braking techniques, gear-choice, climbing and descending, track-stands, low-speed balance in a slow race and a whole lot more. As the day went on the challenges they met brought them together as a group and the fun they were having brought huge smiles to their faces!
Benefits
A memorable day of team building, bringing all 12 people closer together, forging friendships and encouraging them to behave as a team of 12 as opposed to 12 individuals.
